A free translator widget. It uses Google Translate as a translation engine.

Simple, and efficient !

Be careful though : Googles engine is most adapted to *LONG* sentences. Sometimes the translation of short words/expression is not so accurate…

This application is juste a nice wrapper around http://translate.google.com/ . Check that page before reporting bugs against the app !

Pros and cons of Translation Widget app for iPhone and iPad

Translation Widget app good for

I used to use the "interpret" app but it totally annoyed me. The latest input and recent translations that couldnt be turned off dangling all over the place... This is much better (and way faster). Exactly what I was looking for. Please keep it like it is; add-ons wont do any good. Thank you!
The iphone iteration of the Mac desktop widget, this app works as advertised without any fuss or problems. As it is just a simple user interface for the Google translation service, its output shares the strengths and weakness of its underlying service. Note that this requires an online connection to use.
Quick, simple, free! For your general needs - dont spend any cash!
Use it on my MacBook as well. Does have a shortness of languages but I can just use the google translate site. Already added a button for that on my desktop.
For most people, this free app should do the trick. Very clean layout. Easy to cut and paste and easy to switch between most "major" languages. This app comes in handy when random Chinese characters pop up in my email when working with my team in Shenzhen. As long as the google engine is up and running, this app works great.
Just what I was looking for. As a wrapper though, why does it not show all of googles language options?

Some bad moments

Google is often too literal. This app was also missing the language(s) I wanted it for...
I put in a sentence on French and then the App just churns, with no results.
I used a long sentence. It gives you no translation. Very poor & inefficient app.
It didnt work. Wrote two words in English, pressed Go, nothing. Nil. Nada. Zip.
For months now it wont do anything. I type some words, hit "go" and it give me nothing. It thinks about it for a second, but never supplies any translation. Absolutely the worst app on my phone.
Why in the world does this not have all of the languages on the translate.google website? It only has Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. My target language, Arabic, is the sixth most commonly spoken language, and its not here! If its just a wrapper for the website, why would they only offer 12 out of the 53 languages translate.google offers?
